The TMA was formed in 1955 and took over ownership of the Totteridge Manorial and Common Lands and with it responsibility for their upkeep, maintenance and improvement.

These lands include Totteridge Green, Totteridge Common, the verges and woodlands adjacent to Totteridge Lane and four Ponds.

The TMA is distinct and separate from the Totteridge Residents' Association. The two Associations have close links and aim to work together.
